Govt to sell poor's house to rich

ISLAMABAD: The government is all set to sell housing schemes for the poor to rich overseas Pakistanis.

Finance Minister Ishaq Dar has decided to sell Nilore Residencia, Nilore Heights, Ghandhra Enclave, and Kuri Overseas Enclave to Pakistanis living abroad.
According to estimates, the cash-starved government intends to get $2 billion from the sale. The Nilore Residencia-related project is expected to fetch $62.3 million, Nilore Heights $137.4 million, Ghandhra Enclave $1.3 billion, and Kuri Overseas Enclave $770 million.
The Nilore apartments were constructed under the former PM’s housing scheme for low-income people at discounted rates.
However, according to sources, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar has come up with the idea after meeting CDA officials.
Finance Minister Ishaq Dar has directed CDA to complete the projects on a fast track and as per international standards.
