Introduction

Technology has changed our social norms, values, and behaviors. Gone are the days when having a stable job was considered an achievement. In today’s digital age, super cars, luxury boats, sprawling mansions, and private jets define success. Being physically fit is not enough. To be desirable, one must have a deity-like body. Sexuality, a fundamental aspect of human nature, is now quantified in numbers. There are devices that calculate how much pleasure you extract from any encounter. There are tons of products that claim to enhance your sexual experience beyond your imagination.

I came across this modern concept of sex during my work, where I discovered a surprising source of technical knowledge: porn. I started watching adult movies to learn production techniques but could not resist admiring the stunning hourglass figures and the toned muscles. The advertisements on adult sites were equally intrusive. This virtual romance proved to be short-lived. I soon became tired of the monotonous and emotionless mechanical sex. According to estimates, there are over 420 million X-rated sites. Every second, 28258 people watch sex.  The global adult industry generates $97 billion annually, while the United States alone makes up to 14 billion. If sex is just a human need, similar to eating and sleeping, why do so many people watch sex all the time? and why do we need any external stimulation to do what all the animals have been doing for ages.

Exploring Porn Industry:

In my pursuit of understanding the dynamics of modern sex, I explored films from various countries. I studied award winning movies to the home production. Curiosity led me to explore the lives of renowned artists, acknowledged globally. After interviewing few adult models and producers, I discovered that contrary to thier profession; they value traditional relationships in thier lives. A brand ambassador of a famous sex-toy company insisted that married life and relationships were important to her. This insight made me question, if she valued a traditional relationship, why she was advocating free sex- a pursuit of fame and wealth?

The Globalization of Adult Entertainment Industry:

The oldest surviving adult film was created in 1886, only a year after the development of motion pictures. According to Britannica, modern Western pornography emerged during the Enlightenment era in the 18th century. The primary motive behind the creation of adult entertainment was purely commercial. Many believe porn was used as a secret tool to make the internet popular around the world. Individuals and the XXX industry saw adult content as an opportunity to make quick money without any major investment. The architects of the internet actively promoted it to achieve global accessibility and popularity.

Modern Beauty Standards:

The industry has redefined beauty standards. An hourglass figure with large boobs, thin waists, long legs, flat abdomens, and toned muscles is the new standard of beauty. Tall, well-built, muscular bodies with a large penis are desirable now. Those who cannot get a perfect body through exercise spend fortunes on transplants and costly medicines. Some may get the desired results, but many suffer side effects throughout their lives. The new business standards are a modified version of our ancient beliefs. In the Stone Age, beauty was linked to survival and reproduction. Women liked powerful men because they could hunt and provide them with sustenance. Conversely, men sought women with strong and wide pelvises, as they believed this to facilitate safer and smoother childbirth. They admired large breasts as they meant an ample milk supply for newborns. A glowing skin, sparkling eyes and full lips were merely signs of overall good health and an indicator of a woman’s reproductive capabilities. Most of the things shown on screen are exaggerated versions of reality. The blue film models, presented as the epitome of human beauty, are often the result of heavy makeup and camera enhancements. A perfect body may attract a great one-night stand, but can someone live his whole life mating with complete strangers?

The Dark Side of the XXX Industry:

The The multi-billion-dollar pornographic industry takes advantage of human psychology. They portray our imaginations on screens. Apparently, it seems harmless, but porn has deep consequences for the human mind. Modern science term excessive consumption of porn as an  addiction. A disease which requires treatment similar to substance abuse. Similar to other drugs, pornography stimulates the brain to produce happy hormone, dopamine. Over the time, the body becomes immune and produces less dopamine and porn addicts explore new venues like kink and rape to get high. In underdeveloped societies, where sexual education is not common, porn’s effects could be devastating. Those who idealize porn stars never accept ordinary people as partners. Youngsters compare themselves to porn-stars and may suffer from low self-esteem. They may develop unrealistic expectations about their bodies and sexual encounters.

What Porn Industry is hiding:

In In their furious campaign to sell porn and sex products, the adult entertainment industry hides the fact that average people are fully capable of having an intense sexual experience and satisfying their partner. Each person has a unique libido, and pushing it beyond individual capacity could have adverse consequences. Using sexual performance-enhancing products may affect both mind and body. The XXX industry never tells us that porn is actually killing our killing. We are losing the power to get sexually aroused, and we are losing stamina and performance to perform sexual acts for long. For ages, we know proper sleep at night, avoiding excessive or inadequate food, exercising, and drinking lots of water will keep us sexually active.

Conclusion:

Porn has transformed human sexuality into a commercial industry. Our too much indulgence in online sex content has changed our values and relationships with our partners and other people. Porn is making us impotent and affecting our moods and behaviors. We cannot live a happy life watching XXX movies or reading erotica. Intimacy, trust, and genuine human connection are essential to have a satisfied life.
